Sandi Toksvig wants to quit fame and become a teacher

OHMYGOSSIP — Sandi Toksvig wants to give up her career and become a teacher.
The 63-year-old star, who is set to host new Channel 4 show ‘Can I Improve My Memory?’, would love to take a step back from fame, but having “a mortgage and expensive children” is preventing her from doing so.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: “I’d like to not be in the public eye and teach.
“I’d like to teach women’s history, that would be wonderful.
“But I still have a mortgage. A mortgage and expensive children.
“So, you know, good luck with that! But meanwhile, I’ll carry on making very nice programmes and writing books.”
And despite wanting to step away from the world of television herself, the Cambridge University graduate says “it’s ridiculous” that she’s one of a small group of women currently hosting gameshows.
She said: “It’s ridiculous because it’s not that difficult a job. It’s easier asking the questions than trying to answer them. No question about it.”
And as she gears up for the first episode of ‘Can I Improve My Memory?’, which starts tonight (15.07.21) on Channel 4, Sandi said: “It’s a mixture of watching people learn a new skill, which you could learn as well, and a competition.”
The programme will see the likes of former boxer Chris Eubank, ex-‘Love Island’ star Amber Gill, former ‘EastEnders’ actress Nina Wadia, ex-‘Strictly Come Dancing’ head judge Len Goodman, and TV presenter Anna Richardson attempting different techniques to retain information and improve their memory.
