Richard Wilson’s Victor rage at cyclists

OHMYGOSSIP — Richard Wilson has confessed that cyclists make him as angry as his ‘One Foot In The Grave’ character Victor Meldrew.
The 85-year-old Scottish actor – who played neighbourhood grump Victor for 11 years until 2000 – gets infuriated by bike riders who break the rules in his local park in London and he tells them off in the manner of his alter ego.
Being interviewed on the ‘One Foot In The Podcast’ show, he said: “I get very angry in Regent’s Park, where I live nearby.
“It’s full of cyclists who are not supposed to cycle in the park. I did say one day to a young chap, ‘You’re not supposed to cycle in the park’ and he said, ‘Shut up, you old ****!’ I get very angry.
“I can’t hear them coming and I get worried. I do get very Victor-ish with them.”
Richard became very famous for Victor’s catchphrase “I don’t believe it” and even though ‘One Foot In The Grave’ ended with the iconic sitcom character being killed off 21 years ago, he still gets those words shouted at him wherever he goes.
He said: “I don’t mind people shouting my catchphrase. If people say it now, and people still do say it, I just wave at them and smile.
“I wear baseball caps now because that tends to hide me a bit.”
Richard recently revealed that his memory has been “destroyed” due to a head injury he sustained when he fell whilst having a heart attack at his home in 2016.
He told The Oldie magazine: “I do get quite tired about not being able to walk as I used to and having to use a stick, but that is frustration more than grumpiness.
“I fell off a small balcony while I was waiting to meet a writer for coffee outside Maison Blanc.
“As I did so, I hit my head, which caused a bleed in the brain. That’s why my memory has been destroyed a bit. As a result, I am more forgetful – but not more grumpy.”
