Ben Shephard facing ‘long rehab’ after undergoing operation on ruptured ACL

OHMYGOSSIP — Ben Shephard is facing a “very slow, long rehab” after he underwent an operation on his ruptured ACL and torn meniscus.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter is currently recovering in hospital after going under the knife to have his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and meniscus, which he injured while playing football, repaired, and his fellow presenter Susanna Reid has sent her well wishes to him.
Speaking on ‘GMB’, she said: “Ben Shephard is in hospital, recovering from surgery because he ruptured his ACL playing football.
“He’s going to have to undergo rehab to recover. He does say the painkillers are doing their job.”
Ben admitted he had broadcast on similar painkillers “a few years ago”, and couldn’t believe he managed it.
Speaking in an Instagram video, he said: “Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid, what were you thinking letting me broadcast when I felt like this?”
But back in the studio, Susanna admitted Ben is a pro and he will return to the ‘GMB’ studio “very soon”.
She added: “Oh you are always a consummate broadcaster Ben Shephard, and good luck with your recovery.
“I know Ben is going to be back in the studio very soon.
“He watches us still from the hospital bed and I am sure he will be watching the game form there this evening.
“Lots of love to you Ben, get well soon.”
Last month, Ben revealed he had suffered the horrific leg injury while playing football – but nerve damage meant he didn’t feel any pain.
He said: “Interestingly, I didn’t realise I had done it quite so badly, I carried on playing for 25 minutes before I thought, ‘It feels a little bit unstable, perhaps I should stop.’
“It turns out I had severed all the nerves which is why I couldn’t feel any pain, and just carried on playing.”
