OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Lister believes it was partly “a good thing” he was killed off from ‘Emmerdale’ – because it didn’t give him an option to return to the soap. The 43-year-old star’s character Carl King met a grisly end when he was battered to death with a brick by love rival Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) during the ITV soap’s 40th anniversary live special in October 2012. And while Tom has “nothing but fond memories” of his time in the show, his Dales death forced him to move forward with his career rather than look back. He said: “It’s lovely that people still talk about Carl. It’s a really special thing, because you feel like he’s a character who made an impact on people. “I’ve got nothing but fond memories of the show and it was a special time of my life. “The fact that Carl died doesn’t give the option to go back, which in some ways is a good thing because you have to plough new courses and chart your career forward from that point.” Tom counts himself as “really fortunate” in his career after starring in numerous West End shows and touring with musicals, such as ‘Calamity Jane’, but he is keen to return to the small screen at some point. He added to Digital Spy: “We’ll just have to see what’s next. “I think it might be time to get back into telly, so hopefully that will happen in the not-too-distant future.” In April, it was revealed Tom and former ‘Emmerdale’ star Kelsey-Beth Crossley – who starred as Scarlett Nicholls, the secret teenage daughter of Carl’s father Tom King – had reunited for a new virtual show celebrating the West End in Blackpool. They took to the stage at the Blackpool Winter Gardens to perform to an audience across the globe to celebrate the best of musical theatre.
