OHMYGOSSIP — Ruxandra Porojnicu expected a “much worse” reaction in public after her ‘Coronation Street’ character’s affair. The 27-year-old star – who plays Alina Pop on the cobbles – admitted she thought fans of the ITV soap would have been more outraged over her alter ego’s affair with Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsal), given the love for him and Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine). She told Inside Soap magazine: “There’s only been a few strong reactions in public about the affair. “But not as many as I expected. Fiz and Tyrone are such an iconic couple and no one wants to see them apart – so I thought it’d be much worse!” Next week, Alina will drop a huge bombshell as she tells Tyrone she’s pregnant with his baby, and she’s excited to embrace the “challenge” of the more dramatic scenes. She added: “I’ve always been very excited for this storyline to get on to screen, just because I’ve never played anything like it before, and I love to have a challenge.” That said, she still has some words of advice for her alter ego and admitted she’d urge Alina to “have patience and understanding”. She said: “If I was Alina at this stage of her relationship with Ty, I’d tell her to have patience and understand. “He might freak out for a while over having another baby, but she just needs to give him time.” And she noted while Tyrone “needs some time”, he’s still trying his best and there is a genuine “love” between the pair. She explained: “Tyrone needs some time to process things. “However, he does come round in the end, and he attempts to be supportive, to convince her and himself that they’ll both be OK. “Ty and Alina really do love each other, though, and I think that’s the most important thing…”
