Blackadder scenes hit with viewer warning

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Blackadder’s torture scenes have been slapped with a warning by TV bosses.
The second series of the iconic sitcom is currently available on the streaming service BritBox, but the show has been slapped with a warning, as it features “strong language” and “some upsetting scenes”.
In the ‘Chains’ episode, Edmund Blackadder – played by Rowan Atkinson – and Lord Melchett – played by Stephen Fry – are imprisoned and held to ransom.
In one scene, the titular character is held in a giant spiked box, as he’s forced to engage in a game of charades to determine his eventual fate.
However, Blackadder ultimately manages to escape and thereby avoids spending the rest of his life in prison or being sentenced to death.
The move to give the show a viewer warning has surprised fans on an online forum, the Daily Star newspaper reports.
One fan said: “Warning signs? Warning signs? The only danger to anyone watching this is your sides might actually split from laughter.”
Earlier this year, meanwhile, Tony Robinson revealed he is open to making a ‘Blackadder’ reboot.
The 74-year-old actor starred in the BBC sitcom, and he is open-minded about reprising the role of Baldrick.
He said: “I think it ought to be possible to come up with something.
“Rowan always said to me that if there was to be another ‘Blackadder’ it shouldn’t necessarily be a television series, we should find another guise for it.
“It was absolutely wonderful being part of ‘Blackadder’; the pilot script was ghastly but I knew if I could work with that group of people, I would have something to contribute. It worked beyond my wildest dreams.
“Although I wasn’t able to offer the sharp intellect of Stephen Fry or Ben Elton, I was 10 years older than them and had an enormous amount of experience I could bring to the table.”
