Serena Baker wins The Great British Sewing Bee

OHMYGOSSIP — Serena Baker has won ‘The Great British Sewing Bee’.
The medical student became the youngster ever winner of the BBC One programme, after she triumphed on last night’s (16.06.21) final, and Serena – who was 21 when the series was filmed – admitted the experience has been “life-changing” and winning the show “feels like a dream”.
She said: “That’s mental! When they said my name I was like, ‘Is this real?’
“It feels like a dream.
“I’ve made things that I never thought I would be able to make, I’ve learned things about myself, the whole thing has just been life-changing basically. It’s just been amazing.”
Serena got emotional as she was handed the trophy, and her mother was able to watch her daughter’s special moment via Zoom.
Judge Esme Young said Serena’s sewing was so good it looked like someone had “thrown fairy dust” over a garment rather than carried out the work by hand.
She told the winner: “I have this thing about really, really, really talented sewers.
“What I always say is they have fairy dust that they throw over the garment and it doesn’t even look like it’s been touched by a human hand.
“And that’s what your sewing is like.”
For the final transformation challenge, the finalists had to make an off-the-shoulder evening outfit which could be worn on a red carpet, or at a black-tie event.
Serena designed a yellow dress, which attracted plenty of praise from judge Patrick Grant.
He said: “I love it. It looks simple but I love it.”
