Kate Garraway’s mum breaks foot

OHMYGOSSIP — Kate Garraway’s mum has suffered a broken foot.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter – whose husband Derek Draper is receiving 24-hour care at their home as he continues his recovery from the after-effects of coronavirus – was on holiday in Cornwall with her parents this week, when her mother fell and fractured her foot.
She wrote on Instagram: “Just when you thought (hoped!) I hadn’t had a new reason to thank the #nhs recently cue an unfortunate tumble from my mum on the way to the beach & and a broken foot and twisted ankle. (sic)”
The 54-year-old star has been full of praise for the NHS over the past 15 months, since Derek was admitted to hospital back in March 2020 with COVID – and she has thanked the health service once again for treating her mum at Bodmin Hospital, Cornwall, south west England.
She added: “Thanks to the typically wonderful #nhs team at #bodmin hospital and particularly wonderful Ruth we managed to get her booted and safely home for further treatment. You were all so kind – thank you so much. And thanks to @peugeotuk (again) for lending us a car with enough room for her to keep her leg stretched out for the whole journey (although it did mean my Dad was relegated for the first time ever to the back seat , where he really enjoyed defining the expression “back seat driver”!!! ) (sic)”
What’s more, Kate – who has kids Darcey, 15, and son Billy, 11, with Derek – has revealed her former ‘GMB’ co-host Piers Morgan channelled Sir Winston Churchill to help her cope with her husband’s hospitalisation.
According to The Sun newspaper, Kate wrote in her book ‘The Power of Hope’: “When Piers rang he did what the Piers I’ve known for 20 years always did, and went into Churchillian rallying mode.
“‘Right, Kate, get a grip. You’re a brilliant journalist. Do what you do best … get on this. Get to the bottom of the situation.’
“He was like a rugby team captain, preparing me for the pitch, quoting every inspirational figure he could from Churchill to Nelson Mandela.
“It worked, spurring me on.”
Derek was admitted to hospital in March 2020 with coronavirus, and he was able to go home on April 7th 2021.
