Roman Kemp counts penguins for charity challenge

OHMYGOSSIP — Roman Kemp had to count the penguins at ZSL London Zoo this week.
The 28-year-old star and his ‘Capital Breakfast’ co-hosts Sian Welby and Sonny Jay have been taking on the ‘Roman’s Monopoly Mission’ challenge over the last week in order to unlock a £100,000 Community Chest for Global’s Make Some Noise charity and one of their tasks was to study the bird’ in the attraction’s Penguin Beach.
Quickly realising the task wasn’t as easy as it would seem, Roman ordered his team to “think tactics” and directed Sian to go to the water area to count the penguins there, while Sonny acted as look out.
While Sian counted the birds enjoying a splash – though she refused to get into the pool because it “stinks of fish”, Roman observed those on land.
He quipped: “They’ve each got their own couple’s hut. It’s basically ‘Love Island’ but for penguins.”
Their efforts were hampered by Sonny, who spent the three-minute challenge telling a creature named Charlie all about his ‘Dancing on Ice’ win earlier this year.
Hitting the buzzer, Roman guessed at 50 penguins, but was told there were more, the team then scouted for more, and lodged a second guess of 61, which was again rejected.
With less than 30 seconds to go, Sian spotted two more creatures, and the team submitted a successful guess of 63, and were handed a key from Mr. Monopoly.
In keeping with the playing pieces of ‘Monopoly’ – which will be updating its Community Chest Cards next year for the first time ever – the team’s other challenges were to balance enough hats to reach over two metres in 60 seconds, match up a list of celebrity relation-ships in two minutes, steer a remote control dog through an obstacle course in two minutes – while blindfolded, and finally, to race around the game board in 60 seconds.
Anne Leonhardi, Marketing Director North Europe at Hasbro, who produce ‘Monopoly’, said: “We are excited to be partnering with Capital Breakfast to help communities nationwide. Global’s Make Some Noise is an incredible charity, which delivers much needed support, awareness and funds to aid the well-being of communities up and down the UK. We hope that in an inevitable year of change, through the opening of the Community Chest, we can help give back and support those individuals and communities in need.”
Global’s Make Some Noise works to improve the lives of disadvantaged people by supporting small and local charities across the UK.
