James Buckley is thinking about going veggie

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Inbetweeners’ star James Buckley is considering giving up meat and becoming a vegetarian.
The 33-year-old actor – who played foul-mouthed Jay Cartwright in the E4 comedy – has become interested in in changing his lifestyle after watching documentaries on how the farming and fishing industries are destroying the planet, including Netflix’s ‘Seaspiracy’.
James has always been a committed “meat head” and is obsessed with barbecuing but is seriously considering going meat-free and turning to veggie options to save the planet.
Speaking on the live audio social networking app Stereo, he said: “I’ve been watching some documentaries. I watched that thing about plastic in the sea recently on Netflix … It was way more interesting than I thought it was going to be.
“Basically we’re coming to a point now where the eating of animals is having such a bad effect on the planet, but I just I just like eating them so much.
“I would love it if the law just said, ‘You’ve got to stop. You can’t eat animals anymore,’ because then that would just take the decision out of my hands. I wouldn’t be in control anymore. Or maybe rationing meat. It would make me sad, but, you know, the farming industry, and especially the seafood, fishing industry has a massive, massive effect on what is basically creating something like 80 per cent of the oxygen that we breathe. We need to do something about it.
“I am totally open, and I would be really, really pleased if I found a plant-based burger and I was just like, ‘Man, that tastes like a nice beef burger.’ I think that would be a really good option for me. I would want to like it, if anything I’d be more biased towards a vegetarian option, even though I love eating meat and I’m a proper meathead. I’m totally open … It would be good for me, it would be a good thing for me to do and it’d be good for the planet and the environment.”
And James – who has two sons with Clair – doesn’t agree with people who claim that vegetarians and vegans are pious and are always trying to lecture meat eaters, insisting he agrees with almost everything they say about why people should stop eating animals, he just can’t resist meaty morsels.
He said: “I think people that are vegetarian or vegan get … there’s sort of an annoying stigma, that they get that there sort of these irritating people that are just trying to ruin the fun for the rest of us. I agree with pretty much everything that they say, when they give you the reasons as to why they have zero meat products, and it’s all plant-based products that they like to eat, health wise, environmental wise.
“When people do comment I don’t sit and go, ‘Oh, these bloody vegans, bloody hippies, why don’t they just let me live my life.’ I sit down and go, ‘They’re absolutely right.’ ”
