Ryan Thomas injures ankle ahead of marathon

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Coronation Street’ star Ryan Thomas has sprained his ankle whilst training for a marathon.
The 36-year-old actor injured his foot just days before he was set to take part in a mammoth charity challenge that would see him walk 10 marathons in 10 days from Buckingham Palace to his hometown in Manchester.
Sharing a snap of him icing his foot on Instagram, he said: “This has not been my week!! Started off with food poisoning, just got myself fighting fit ready to attack the week before my challenge & this happens something as stupid as tripping over a kettle bell in the gym causing a sprained ankle.
“If it wasn’t for my charity walk this wouldn’t be an issue but I’m doing 26 miles a day for 10 days next Monday, need my ankles more than ever right now! I’m absolutely gutted!! I will do everything in power to fix this as I’m not backing out! (sic)”
Ryan – whose fiancée is Lucy Mecklenburgh – is determined to take part in the marathon to raise money for CALM and updated fans with some positive news after a visit to the physiotherapist.
He wrote: “Three to four days he says I’ll be back walking.”
It comes after Ryan was left devastated following the death of his friend, who took his own life during the first coronavirus lockdown.
He is now on a mission to support and raise awareness of men’s mental health in hopes he can “save even one life”.
The ex-soap star said: “You would never have known he was suffering. The night before he was on Instagram saying he was out for dinner. He was the same age as me. It really shook everyone. Everyone loved him.”
Ryan planned to raise awareness in the upcoming charity walk and has already raised £25,000 for CALM.
He wrote on Instagram: “I am lucky enough to have a big following & as someone in the public eye I want to use it for positive change. The stats are shocking [see below], and we need to do something about it – the stats on men in particular are shocking. If one life is saved by me doing this challenge, if someone checks on their friend, or uses CALM for advice & help – then it’s been worth it.”
