Martin Compston and Line of Duty co-stars to get tattoos after smashing viewing figures goal

OHMYGOSSIP — Martin Compston has claimed the ‘Line of Duty’ cast have vowed to get matching tattoos to commemorate the show reaching 12 million viewers.
The 36-year-old actor starred as Detective Inspector Steve Arnott in the BBC drama, and took to Twitter on Monday (03.05.21) to thank fans for their support following the end of the sixth series on Sunday (02.05.21).
And in his post, he also revealed that himself, series creator Jed Mercurio, Detective Inspector Kate Fleming actress Vicky McClure, and Superintendent Ted Hastings star Adrian Dunbar have agreed on getting tattoos that read ‘AC12million’ in honour of the series reaching a whopping 12 million viewers.
Martin wrote: “Hey folks now the madness is slightly dying down just want to thank everybody who reached out about last night and the series as a whole, we’ve truly been blown away by the reaction and love for the show we’re proud of it. Fully understand it wasn’t the ‘urgent exit’ type ending some anticipated but we appreciate you sticking with us
“Felt many emotions from excitement and anxiety at the hype to relief that it’s over. Now I just feel immense pride our show that started on Wednesday’s on BBC2 has just smashed every overnight drama record since they began.
“Finally myself, Vicky, Adrian and Jed made an agreement in the inconceivable and ridiculous scenario we ever got twelve million viewers we would get ‘AC12million’ tattoos. We’ll see who’s good to their word…… (sic)”
‘AC12million’ is a reference to the number of viewers the show garnered, as well as AC-12, the name of the Anti-Corruption unit within the police in which the show is set.
Martin’s post was quoted by actress Vicky, who added: “We are so grateful to you all. So much so looks like I’ll have the ink to prove it! (sic)”
Whilst Jed simply retweeted the message after having written one of his own in which he said he was “honoured and flattered” by the show’s viewing figures.
He wrote: “We’re honoured and flattered by the viewing figures for #LineofDuty6. We knew attempting to explore the real nature of corruption in our society wouldn’t appeal to everyone, but we do sincerely thank you all for watching. It’s been our privilege to share your Sunday nights. (sic)”
