Laura Dern wants more money talk

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Dern thinks there is more “shame” in talking about sex than money.
The 54-year-old actress is amazed people haven’t discussed financial matters with her but are more than happy to get candid about what happens in the bedroom.
She said: “There’s more shame talking about money than there is about sex.
“I can’t believe nobody ever mentioned money to me, ever. Nobody talked about it. Should you get a checking account? How do you save? Who do you talk to about it?”
And Laura is delighted a line from ‘Big Little Lies’ character, Renata Klein, in which she fumed “I can not not be rich” has become one of the most iconic pieces of dialogue from the show and hopes it encourages women to speak up.
Speaking during a Vanity Fair Cocktail Hour, Live! chat with Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Radhika Jones, she said: “I hope every woman claims that.
“I had no idea that it would resonate in the way it does and if it was any line that I’ve ever said that could resonate, I’m thrilled that it’s that, because it’s obviously multi-layered and it’s not only about finance. But how wonderful that women are talking about money.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Jurassic Park’ star jokingly apologised for her appearances in 16-year-old daughter Jaya’s TikTok videos but insisted the teenager was adamant she got involved.
Laura – who also has son Ellery, 19, with ex-husband Ben Harper – said: “[She would] “have killed me if I wouldn’t have given her at least a few TikToks. She asks me most days to do a TikTok so I’m trying to pace myself.”
And the Oscar-winning actress admitted going back to work to shoot ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ amid the coronavirus pandemic was a daunting prospect.
She said: “[It was] a very complicated and daunting consideration — to go back to work at such a crucial and scary moment and have no ability to wear PPE in the workplace as actors.”
