Abbey Clancy ‘hated’ live Strictly Come Dancing performances

OHMYGOSSIP — Abbey Clancy “hated” performing live on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 35-year-old model won the BBC Latin and ballroom competition in 2013 alongside her pro partner Aljaz Skorjanec, but she “would have rather died” than taking to the dancefloor for the live show, and she also didn’t enjoy the annual tour.
Appearing on Frazer T Smith’s ’12 Questions’ podcast, she said: “I loved practising in the rehearsal room, and then when I had to do the live show, I would have rather died.
“We did a tour in all the arenas and I hated it. I hated the crowd cheering me.”
Her former pro footballer husband Peter Crouch tried to give her some advice to help with the nerves, urging her to embrace the roar of the crowd.
However, she added: “It just didn’t work.”
Abbey even had support from Stevie Wonder when he sensed her nerves when the pair appeared on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ back in 2008.
She explained: “I was on Jonathan Ross and I was sitting next to Stevie, sitting in silence and he said to me, ‘Why are you so scared?’ He could just feel the energy coming off me.”
Peter previously admitted he has rejected ‘Strictly’ a number of times, and noted he is not as “technically” gifted as his wife when it comes to dancing.
When asked if he had continually turned ‘Strictly’ down on her advice, he replied: “Well, yeah on her advice, because she’s seen me dance.
“I enjoy dancing but I’m not as technical as Abbey was.”
The former England star also admitted he would be desperate to emulate her success on the show if he did ever sign up for the programme.
He added: “We would probably be quite competitive, because she won the show.
“I would not like to come second to her.”
