Alex Beresford ‘wanted for Strictly Come Dancing’

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ bosses want Alex Beresford and Laura Tobin to take part in the show.
The ‘Good Morning Britain’ weather presenters have caught the eye of the BBC Latin and ballroom competition’s producers, who have put the pair’s names in the mix as potential stars of this year’s show.
A BBC One source told The Sun newspaper: “’Strictly’ bosses like having an ITV daytime star as they help with audience figures, being really well-known. Viewers wake up to them every day.
“Laura and Alex are well liked and would make good signings. It is still early in the process but both their names are in the mix.”
Laura, 39, joined ITV in 2012 and has appeared on ‘Pointless Celebrities’, ‘Celebrity Mastermind’, and reality game show ‘Drive’.
Alex, 40 – who finished fifth in ‘Dancing On Ice’ in 2018 – recently clashed live on ‘GMB’ with then co-star Piers Morgan.
During a heated debate, Alex questioned Piers’ comments about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, following her Oprah Winfrey interview.
And later that evening, Piers quit the programme with immediate effect, and claimed afterwards it was because he refused to apologise for his comments about Meghan, after he said he “didn’t believe a word” of her Oprah chat.
Following Piers’ ‘GMB’ departure, Alex admitted that wasn’t the conclusion he was “hoping for”, and insisted he wished the presenter “well”.
In a statement on his Twitter account, he wrote: “There is so much that could be said. “Piers’ departure sincerely wasn’t the conclusion I was hoping for. Over the last few years, Piers and I had a lively, cheeky, on-air relationship.
“We both wanted to be on the show Tuesday morning, and from our very public conversations on Twitter, we both knew how strongly our opinions differed on the treatment of Harry and Meghan pre and post the interview that has split the world.
“I hoped we could reach a place of understanding. It’s sad we weren’t able to get there, but challenging his opinion was not an outrage. On this occasion, we have to agree to disagree.
“I didn’t want him to quit, but I did want him to listen.
“Personally, Piers has always supported my growth. He’s given me advice on several occasions and for that I am grateful. I wish him well!”
