Hi-de-Hi star Su Pollard ‘signs up for Celebrity MasterChef’

OHMYGOSSIP — Su Pollard has signed up for ‘Celebrity MasterChef’.
The 71-year-old actress – who rose to fame as Peggy Ollerenshaw in ‘Hi-de-Hi!’ – is being lined up for the upcoming BBC One cooking show alongside the likes of Katie Price and Joe Swash.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “It’s a real coup getting Su. We’re made up. She’ll bring joy to the show.”
Su also appeared in the likes of ‘You Rang, M’Lord’ and ‘Oh, Doctor Beeching!’, as well as over 35 stage productions and more than 40 pantomimes over the years.
The report comes after it was recently revealed Melanie Sykes has also agreed to take part with bosses hoping she brings “a bit of glamour”.
An insider said: “Mel is a class signing for this year’s show. Not only does she bring a bit of glamour to the line up, Mel also has a wicked sense of humour and isn’t afraid to take risks during the competition.”
Mel has starred in a number of cooking shows as host, including ‘Let’s Do Lunch’, which she fronted with chef Gino D’Acampo, and ‘Humble Pie’ with renowned chef Marco Pierre White.
The source added: “Mel has got a lot to prove after spending so much time with some of the world’s best chefs. Cooking is her passion and she absolutely loves nothing more than rustling up a feast for her family and friends. But MasterChef is different and she knows she’ll have to pull out all the stops to impress. Mel cannot wait to get started.”
Other stars set to appear on ‘Celebrity MasterChef’ this year include former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star and singer Megan McKenna and Coronation Street’s Melissa Johns.
As always, the celebrity chefs will be judged by John Torode and Gregg Wallace in their bid to take the ‘MasterChef’ crown.
