‘It was like bandit country’: Danny Dyer and family ate lasagnes at 3am during 1st lockdown

OHMYGOSSIP — Danny Dyer says it was like “bandit country” in his house during the first national lockdown, and his family would chow down on lasagnes at 3am.
The ‘EastEnders’ actor has found homeschooling his two younger children, Sunnie, 13, and seven-year-old Arty “impossible” during the third lockdown, admitting it is “so hard” compared to the first period of quarantine, when there were “no rules or regulations” in his house because he wanted to keep his family’s “mental health safe”.
Speaking about homeschooling, he said: “I just can’t do it no more.
“It’s impossible, actually, because you can’t turn your house into a school.
“It’s far too much work to structure the day from nine until three, give them a little PE lesson, give them a little lunch break. It’s b*******.”
“The first lockdown was bandit country. There were no rules in our house, we couldn’t f****** get our nut around anything.
“We were just hiding from the virus, eating lasagnes at three in the morning. They were going to bed when they wanted, getting up when they wanted. It was free rein. There were no rules or regulations, we just wanted to keep everyone’s mental health safe and show love and affection.
“But this time round, it’s so hard.”
The Mick Carter actor has previously spoken about his love of meditation, and has now revealed he implements a thumb and finger technique when he needs to calm down.
Speaking to his daughter Dani Dyer, he said: “What I do when I’ve got Arty and the dog’s driving me mad, mummy’s moaning about something, Sunnie’s p***** off because she’s a vegetarian now, ‘Why isn’t there any avocados?’, and you can just hear it coming from all angles.
“With my thumb, I tap each of my fingers and I say, ‘Calm starts with me.’
“All you’re doing is concentrating on your breath really so all the other s*** and noise and stuff, that’s going on outside, doesn’t mean anything.
“You just have to eradicate that and just concentrate back to your breath and then your brain goes a little bit and it starts telling you stories again and it starts going 100 miles talking s***, and then you just go back to your breath.
“And you can count your breath, going one, two, one, two and it sounds really irritating and I ain’t got time to do that but actually, when you get into a rhythm of that, nothing else matters.”
Danny admitted he was previously “so against” meditation for “many years”, but now he practices it every evening before he goes to bed.
When asked by Dani on their Spotify Original Podcast ‘Sorted With the Dyers’ if he meditates on a daily basis, he said: “Well I’ve had a couple of weeks where I haven’t gone and done it for some reason.
“I can tell when I haven’t done it, so every day I gotta do it. A lot of people do it at the beginning of the day. I like to do it at the end of the day, so before I get to bed usually.
“So I can take and absorb all the s*** that comes at me all day and the stuff that you think about.
“The stuff that you dwell on and at the end of the night you can sort of de-stress yourself and then I drop into a nice deep sleep, chuck out a few Zs and in the morning I’m ready to go.
“Everyone’s different, everyone’s meditation is different, but you should maybe just set a little alarm every day just to remind yourself that you need to meditate because it is such a beautiful thing and I was so against it for so many years.”
