Jay’s Workshop commissioned for new 6-part series

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Jay’s Workshop’ has been commissioned for a new six-part series on BBC Two.
The new programme has been created by the makers of ‘The Repair Shop’, with each of the hour-long episodes following Jay Blades and his volunteers as they build furniture for deserving local people in a workshop.
Looking forward to the new series, Jay said: “So many people up and down the country have given back to their communities, now it’s time for my community workshop to give back to them.”
Patrick Holland, the controller of BBC Two, is also looking forward to the new show.
He explained: “Jay is a special talent and I’m delighted that he’ll be opening the doors of his new workshop on BBC Two. It promises to be filled with great craft skills, beautiful objects and amazing community stories.”
Jay previously admitted he finds his work to be incredibly rewarding.
He shared: “The feelgood factor that you get when you fix something, or you redesign a chair and put a different fabric on it and you stand back and look at it.
“It’s almost as if you’ve got this virtual pat on your back that you’ve given yourself.”
Jay also loves to see men express their emotions on ‘The Repair Shop’, having been a “macho man” for so long himself.
He said: “We still have those ideas that men don’t do that.
“In the show, the thing that always gets to me is when men show emotion for someone they love. I lived for quite a long time being this macho man, and not really embracing that emotional side.
“You don’t know how someone’s going to take it, if they’re going to take the mickey out of you. Because not many men do it, it’s a lonely experience when you do.”
