Robbie Williams closes fashion label Farrell

OHMYGOSSIP — Robbie Williams has shut down his fashion label Farrell this week, with the company going into liquidation and filing for voluntary bankruptcy.

Robbie Williams’ fashion line has gone into liquidation. The ‘Candy’ singer launched his menswear label Farrell in September 2011 and opened a pop-up shop in Covent Garden, London, this August for a six-month stint.

But the clothes did not prove popular with shoppers and the store closed after just six weeks.

Representatives for Farrell have confirmed the company has gone into liquidation and filed for voluntary bankruptcy on Monday (14.10.13).

Staff at both the shop and in the Farrell design studios were instantly dismissed following the decision on Monday, while the website was also shut down.

In a statement issued on the failed business venture, Robbie said: “The support of the men’s press and retailers internationally since we started has been incredible and I want to thank them. I have also been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with the talented Ben Dickens and will miss creating and working with and wish him every luck for the future.”

Robbie, 39, hired Ben Dickens – former design director at Burberry – to create the Farrell collection with him and the line was available at famous London department store Selfridges as well as his own shop and online.

The Take That star named his label after his grandfather, Jack Farrell, who became renowned for his fashion sense in his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent.

Robbie’s long-time pop rival Liam Gallagher launched his own fashion line Pretty Green in 2009.

The label has gone from strength-to-strength with two shops in London and other UK stores in Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham, Newcastle, Brighton, Leeds, Birmingham, Reading and also Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The former Oasis singer’s line also won the Menswear Brand of the Year prize at the Drapers Awards.
