Gemma Collins: Hateful trolls called me a fat in front of my mum

OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins claims hateful trolls called her a “fat ****” in front of her mother.
The 40-year-old reality star has been the subject of horrific abuse throughout her television career – which began on ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ – with many of the negative comments being focused on her weight, including receiving abuse when she is walking through the streets of Essex with her mum.
Speaking during her upcoming appearance on ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’ – which will air on Thursday (11.02.21) – she said: “It was so embarrassing. Once, I was taking my mum for lunch, a van pulled up and they started abusing me. It wasn’t for me, I felt so hurt that that happened in front of my mum.”
When asked by Piers what the trolls said, Gemma added: “’You fat ****’. You know, fat cow. ‘Look at you stuffing your face.’
“Again, I’m used to it but I didn’t want my mum to hear it.”
The star also explained that her 65-year-old mother, Joan, was left “very upset” by the ordeal.
Gemma is set to explore her experience with bullying on Piers’ show, and a previous clip showed her being overwhelmed by a video chronicling the vile hatred she’s received over the years.
Calling it “hard to watch”, she added: “You don’t forget it but that’s the downside of fame. I’m a lot more comfortable now in my own skin.”
Meanwhile, 55-year-old Piers defended Gemma against criticism on ‘Good Morning Britain’ earlier this week, after the news she would appear on his show was greeted with death threats.
Piers said: “She’s a reality TV star who plays up to her character – very much like Katie Price.
“But no one should have to put up with people on Twitter spewing the kind of vile abuse and death threats she gets.
“When I announced she was on ‘Life Stories’ out it poured, people saying ‘I hope you die’.
“There’s no regulation. If we did that today, spending the next five minutes wishing people dead, we’d be taken off air.
“But nothing happens to these morons who abuse footballers or even Captain Tom. Gemma Collins shouldn’t have to have people wishing her dead on a social platform. “It’s orchestrated. Who are the bosses behind this spewing this stuff?”
