Wallis Day quits Hollyoaks
OHMYGOSSIP — Wallis Day has quit ‘Hollyoaks’ as Holly Cunningham, but actress Amanda Clapham has been cast in the role as show bosses were keen to keep the stunning shop assistant on the programme.
The blonde beauty has left the role of Holly Cunningham after a year on the programme, but show bosses have cast Amanda Clapham in the part as they were keen to keep the stunning shop assistant on the Channel 4 soap, and her first scenes are to air in the next few weeks.
Wallis said in a statement: “I want to thank Lime Pictures for giving me such an incredible opportunity. I cannot express how grateful I’ve been for the last 18 months – I’ve learned so much and I hope to work with Lime again in the future.
“Congratulations to Amanda for being cast as Holly, I’m sure she’ll do an excellent job working for such a great production company full of talented people.”
Show bosses opted to recast the part ahead of some “major storylines” for Holly, but they are sad to see Wallis depart the programme.
A show spokesperson said: “A decision was made to recast the role ahead of some major storylines for the character which will take Holly in a different direction.
“Wallis Day has been a popular cast member and we wish her every success in her future.”
Bryan Kirkwood, Hollyoaks’ Executive Producer, added: “We’re very sad to see Wallis go but respect her decision. I felt Holly is too good a character to lose, so we have recast the role and fans will see her later this autumn.”
Wallis will still feature in episodes of ‘Hollyoaks Later’, which air nightly on E4 next week.
