Shaun Williams claims Mister Winner was axed due to COVID-19

OHMYGOSSIP — Shaun Williamson has claimed ‘Mister Winner’ was axed after the BBC’s “funds were depleted because of COVID-19”.
The 55-year-old star – who appeared as Chris Smith in two episodes of the sitcom – has opened up on the way the coronavirus pandemic wreaked havoc on his acting career with various projects getting cancelled.
He said: “I was in a lovely sitcom last year called ‘Mister Winner’. It got cancelled because the BBC’s funds were depleted because of COVID, I’ve always thought we were going to do a second series.
“It’s just bad luck. I was supposed to tour in a musical, that was cancelled. So I’ve just got to wait and see what happens.”
The ‘Celebs on the Farm’ star admitted the upcoming MTV reality show – which is set to air next month – came at the right time.
The programme was filmed last year, with strict COVID-19 protocols and industry guidelines adhered to throughout the production.
Shaun added: “My career goal has been to earn enough money to survive basically. I’m a divorcee, so I’ve got a mortgage on a second house, so my career plan is just to have fun, enjoy myself, and survive financially.
“So ‘Celebs on the Farm’ was great to come along in what was a very tough year… I just want to get lots more lovely work and not have it cancelled! It’s as simple as that.”
Meanwhile, the former ‘EastEnders’ actor – who played Barry Evans for a decade from 1994 to 2004 – noted he enjoys the unpredictability of his projects, as long as they keep coming.
He explained: “I’m not a star, I’m not in a position to guide my career. I’m one of these people who waits for the phone to go and see where it takes me.
“There’s something quite fun about that as long as the phone keeps going because you never know what’s around the corner. I just want the phone to keep ringing.”
Brand new to MTV, ‘Celebs on the Farm’ premieres early next month!
