Joe Biden inauguration: Demi Lovato, Oprah Winfrey and more congratulate US President

OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Lovato, Jada Pinkett Smith and more have congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris after their inauguration.
The new United States President and Vice-President were sworn in during Wednesday’s (20.01.21) event in Washington D.C., and a host of famous faces were glued to their TV screens watching the historic moment take place.
Demi tweeted: “President @JoeBiden and Madame Vice President @KamalaHarris It is our time to unite, heal, and get to work #Inauguration2021”.
And Jada Pinkett Smith also reflected on what “needs to be done” with some words of encouragement.
She added: “There is so much work that needs to be done. But … the ground work has been laid that in America … anything is possible. Congratulations to President @joebiden and Vice President @kamalaharris”
Oprah Winfrey, Shonda Rhimes and Mindy Kaling all referenced Harris being the first black woman to be Vice President.
‘Scandal’ creator Shonda wrote: “Brown girls no longer just dreaming. #bidenharris2020.”
Television icon Oprah added: “In tears watching this extraordinary moment for women in the U.S. and the world. Vice President @kamalaharris us”
And Mindy’s three-year-old daughter Katherine was watching, with the actress posting on Instagram: “I was at work, but she said, ‘Is that mommy? It looks like mommy’… Best compliment I ever got! It matters. Happy Inauguration everyone.”
Meanwhile, Mark Ruffalo referenced the past four years of Donald Trump’s presidency, as he insisted the country will find “clarity” and “compassion” again.
He said: “We are going to be okay. From the wreckage there will be renewal, from the wounds will grow compassion and character, from the division will come clarity, from the despair will come wisdom, from the loss will come community.”
Former president Barack Obama – who had Biden as his own vice-president – tweeted: “Congratulations to my friend, President @JoeBiden! This is your time.”
And ‘Ugly Betty’ actress America Ferrera paid tribute to poet Amanda Gorman, while referencing her son Sebastian, two, and his reaction to the ceremony.
She said: “‘Why you crying?’ ‘What is democracy?’ ‘Where did JLo go?’ – a little easier to answer Baz’s questions today.
“So much work ahead to build the world we want our babies to inherit…
“Grateful for today’s victory and for @amandascgorman’s words: ‘There is always light, if only we are brave enough to see it, if only we are brave enough to be it.'”
