Sir David Attenborough turned up to awards ceremony on wrong night

OHMYGOSSIP — Sir David Attenborough turned up to receive a medal on the wrong night.
The 94-year-old natural historian was due to be honoured at an event at London’s Canada House but realised his blunder when he arrived at the event to find no one there.
Speaking on ‘The Gaby Roslin Podcast’, Sir Michael Palin said: “I’ll tell you a little story that sums up David. He’s very loyal – if someone asks him to go somewhere, he will try and make it. I went to an event at Canada House and he was going to be given a medal.
“People were getting together and having their drinks and, suddenly, David appears. He doesn’t have an entourage. He just came in, said hello to everybody.
“I said to him, ‘David, you are brilliant, you turn up to all of these things’ and he said, ‘Well, I turned up last night [but] it was the wrong night.’ ”
David recently revealed he won’t be returning to Instagram after he briefly joined the photo-sharing platform in 2020.
He said: “I’m so old I can’t get used to all these new media but I was persuaded to do so in order to do a message about conservation. So for a limited period of time I contributed to Instagram but I’m off now. I’m not on it anymore and I don’t intend to go back.
“I’ve got enough problems with post. I get 70 letters a day! I do my very best [to respond to them all]. Sometimes people, mercifully, don’t actually put their address on because people are so unaccustomed to sending letters.”
However, the broadcast icon has confirmed he will return for a second series of ‘Dynasties’ in 2022.
Jack Bootle, head of commissioning for science and natural history at the BBC, said: “‘Dynasties II’ will be a gripping look at the lives of four remarkable wild animals as they struggle to build a family against the odds.
“With characters you fall in love with, and genuine life-and-death stakes, this will be a series every bit as thrilling as the greatest drama.”
