Romesh Ranganathan’s The Ranganation gets third series

OHMYGOSSIP — Romesh Ranganathan’s ‘The Ranganation’ is set for a third series.
The 42-year-old comedian will bring his BAFTA-nominated topical comedy show back to BBC Two this February, after the broadcaster ordered a new six-episode series.
Romesh will present the show from a studio, but will be joined virtually by his focus group, named the Ranganation, because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In a statement, Romesh said: “Working with The Ranganation is always a highlight for me so I’m looking forward to being virtually reunited with them all and unpicking the week’s events together. We are also back in the studio, which is partly because we have figured out a way to do it safely but mainly because my marriage wouldn’t have survived doing the show from my house again.”
The focus group is made up of 20 loveable, outspoken characters who represent a cross section of modern Britain, and each week the group will discuss a current topic alongside celebrity guests.
Although there are currently no guests announced for the new series, past guests have included Aisling Bea, Danny Dyer, Freddie Flintoff, Jo Brand, Katherine Ryan, Paloma Faith and Richard Osman.
Past discussions with members of the Ranganation such as ‘Technophobe, ‘Gen Z’, ‘Never Voted’, ‘Lord Dave’ and ‘Romesh’s Mum’, have covered such disparate areas as paranormal activity, homeschooling during lockdown, dating apps, and whether or not you should wash your legs in the shower.
Patrick Holland, Controller, BBC Two said in a separate statement: “For my money ‘The Ranganation’ was the best lockdown comedy series on TV last year and I’m delighted that Romesh and his merry band are returning to our screens. The Ranganation are a unique cross section of modern Britain and Romesh is a master at driving the most insightful and hilarious insights into contemporary life.”
