Rita Simons undergoes emergency root canal procedure

OHMYGOSSIP — Rita Simons underwent an emergency root canal procedure this week.
The former ‘EastEnders’ star – who played Roxy Mitchell on the BBC soap from 2007 until her character’s death in 2017 – joked she was happy to get out of the house for a “day out” during the current UK lockdown, which is in place to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
She tweeted: “I had emergency root canal procedure yesterday. It was nice to have a day out.
“I s*** you not. #OutOut (sic)”
One fan seemed concerned and recalled their own painful experience, hoping Rita wasn’t suffering too much.
They replied: “Jesus Christ. I had an infection before a root canal and it was the worst pain I’ve ever encountered.
“So for the procedure to be a nice day out… that is a mood. Hope it’s not painful by the way (sic)”
The 43-year-old actress responded: “It was fabulous! A day out AND an end to the pain that made me want to punch myself in the face every 3 seconds (sic)”
Rita has previously admitted to suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), revealing she used to fear “everyone is going to die”.
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ star said: “From the age of probably three I was a worrier. I used to have obsessive, compulsive behaviours but I didn’t realise that’s what it was until I was older.
“A lot of people with OCD have a thing they worry about – mine was, ‘Everyone is going to die.’
“I would walk around with my grandparents’ address in my back pocket at all times in case everybody died. I would do rituals and all sorts of things in order to stop them dying.
“I was just 14 years old when I was diagnosed with OCD and sometimes being a little OCD isn’t really what you might think it is.
“For me it certainly isn’t an obsession with being clean and tidy.
“This is the first time I’ve spoken in depth about having OCD. It wasn’t until I was in the jungle that it kind of had a light shone on it.
“I’m fully diagnosed OCD.”
