Natalie Portman for directorial debut with ‘Tale of Love and Darkness’?
OHMYGOSSIP — Natalie Portman has been rumoured to be preparing for her directorial debut. The actress was first tipped to direct a film adaptation of Amos Oz’s memoir A Tale of Love and Darkness in 2007, but the project never appeared to go any further.
According to Israel Hayom, the Black Swan star, along with two writers, has completed the screenplay, which was then submitted to Oz for approval.
The report also claims that Portman – who is expected to star in the movie as well – will visit Israel in September to begin the search for film locations.
The 32-year-old’s film Jane Got a Gun, in which she stars and acts as a producer, has been plagued with casting issues. Ewan McGregor is the latest actor linked to the male lead role after Michael Fassbender, Jude Law and Bradley Cooper all exited the project.
Portman will star opposite Fassbender in Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of Macbeth.
