Jessica Plummer took a break from social media to ‘mourn’ her EastEnders exit

OHMYGOSSIP — Jessica Plummer took a social media break to “mourn” her character following her ‘EastEnders’ departure.
The 28-year-old actress played Chantelle Atkins in the BBC soap for 127 episodes between 2019 and her final episode earlier this year, and has said she was so upset about leaving the show, that she had to step away from social media in order to properly deal with her departure.
Jessica spoke as she was honoured with the Best Actress gong at the Inside Soap Awards on Monday (23.11.20) although her speech was pre-recorded as she’s currently taking part in ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’.
She said: “This is probably one of the biggest achievements of my career. It was an honour to even be nominated, so I’m completely blown away.
“I came off social media for a quite long time (for me!) after my final episode aired as I personally had to mourn my character and all the changes in my life, but when I came back, the reception I got from everyone was so heart-warming. Chantelle was a loved character and it really was an honour to play her.”
Elsewhere, over in the Dales, ITV soap ‘Emmerdale’ scooped up the trophy for the Best Family, which went to the beloved Dingle family.
Lisa Riley – who plays Mandy Dingle – said of their win: “We are all so proud, we really do feel like one big, happy northern family. We love what we do, and we really care, so obviously that comes through on the screen. And as we always say – Dingle till we die!” 
The 2020 Inside Soap Awards took place virtually because of the coronavirus pandemic, and saw ‘EastEnders’ win the coveted Best Soap accolade.
