Nicollette Sheridan gets new trial date

OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress Nicollette Sheridan has been granted a new trial date in her case against the show.

Nicollette Sheridan has been granted a new trial in her case against ‘Desperate Housewives’ The actress claims she was wrongfully dismissed from the show following arguments with its creator, Marc Cherry, but the first court battle ended in a mistrial in March 2012 with the new trial set to begin on December 2, 2013.

Nicollette was previously seeking $5.7 million in damages and $35,000 in sanctions from ABC Entertainment for her treatment on the series, which saw her character, Edie Britt, killed off in season five by being electrocuted.

However, it has been ruled that the new trial will limit her to suing only for loss of wages and benefits, so it is unclear what compensation she will be seeking.

Nicollette’s former co-star Eva Longoria, previously insisted the case has put a huge “strain” on ‘Desperate Housewives’ legacy.

She said: “I was surprised that there was even a trial and it went that far. I love Nicollette and I love Marc Cherry, and I love our work environment. It’s a stain on our legacy as a hit show. It was just unfortunate, the whole thing.”
