Maisie Smith recalls her ‘cocky’ EastEnders audition

OHMYGOSSIP — Maisie Smith was “cocky” when she first auditioned for ‘EastEnders’.
The 19-year-old actress – who plays Tiffany Butcher in the BBC soap – joined the show’s cast when she was just six years old, but Maisie has confessed to being overly-confident during her initial try out for the part.
Appearing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Maisie shared: “I’m probably best known for playing Tiffany Butcher on ‘EastEnders’.
“I first appeared on ‘EastEnders’ back in 2008 when I was six years old. When I first auditioned, I was quite a cocky little minx. I strutted in there, chucked the lines on the side and went, ‘Guys, I know them’. They were like, ‘This is the one.’ ”
Maisie is currently competing in the new series of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and she impressed the show’s judging panel during her first performance on Saturday night (24.10.20).
The soap star was among the pre-show favourites to win the coveted Glitterball Trophy, and Maisie recently described herself as a “dark horse” for the series.
Maisie – who previously won the ‘Strictly’ special on ‘Children in Need’ – said: “I’m not going to lie, I’ve got dancing experience.
“I’ve done a bit of hip-hop and street dance throughout my time but I have no technical ability at all.
“So yeah, I feel like I was very lucky on that week. But who knows, I could be the dark horse.”
However, head judge Shirley Ballas has warned Maisie not to let her previous success go to her head.
She explained: “I know she won the special but if I was Maisie I wouldn’t take anything for granted, because doing one dance is not like doing 10 weeks.
“You’ve got to be there and you’ve got to be full on and you’ve got to go the whole nine yards.”
