Robert Pattinson joins Maps to the Stars

OHMYGOSSIP — Robert Pattinson is set to work with director David Cronenberg again in ‘Maps to the Stars’, a follow-up from their 2012 film ‘Cosmopolis’.

Robert Pattinson has joined ‘Maps to the Stars’. The ‘Twilight Saga’ actor is set to reunite with David Cronenberg, who he worked with on last year’s ‘Cosmopolis’, and will return to his role of billionaire Eric Packer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Robert’s co-star Sarah Gadon – who played Elise Shifrin in the original film – is also scheduled to make a return, along with new editions, ‘Carrie’ actress Julianne Moore and The Paperboy’s John Cusack.

Producer Martin Katz and his company Prospero Pictures will offer their services to Cronenberg for a fourth time after working on ‘Cosmopolis’, alongside SBS Productions’ Saïd Ben Saïd.

Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab, Cronenberg’s manager, will executive produce with Integral Films’ Alfred Hurmer co-producing.

Screenwriter Bruce Wagner has penned the ‘Maps to the Stars’ script, which has been described as a dark comic look at Hollywood life, and Entertainment One will finance the indie flick.

Rachel Weisz and Viggo Mortensen were previously linked to the project, but ‘The Mummy’ actress dropped out earlier this year.

Cronenberg previously expressed his desire for Pattinson and Mortensen to star together in a film as he thought they would have “fantastic” chemistry on-screen.

He explained: “Viggo and I are kindred souls. We love each other in a very personal way and we keep in touch all the time.

“Rob is a lot younger but I believe him when he says that he wants to do something else with me.

“He and Viggo would be great in a movie together. They’d get along fantastically and the energy between them would be fantastic.”

Shooting is scheduled to begin in July in Los Angeles and Toronto.
