Duke of Edinburgh to open new centre at Bourne Grammar School

OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s Duke of Edinburgh will officially open a new systems and control teaching centre at Bourne Grammar School in Lincolnshire tomorrow (18.04.13).

Britain’s Duke of Edinburgh will officially open Bourne Grammar School’s systems and control teaching centre. Prince Philip will visit the teaching facility in Lincolnshire, east England, tomorrow (18.04.13) to unveil the purpose-built building, which aims to help students on the newly-established course.

Crowds are expected to line the streets from 3.30pm to pay a warm welcome to the 91-year-old royal before he talks to pupils and staff as he tours the Turing Centre.

Headteacher Jonathan Maddox said: “Systems and controls is a modern, forward-looking subject that is highly regarded by top universities.

“Our new bespoke building will offer our students the opportunity to study a truly 21st century curriculum, developing knowledge of computing, electronics, mechanisms and pneumatics from their first year all the way to A-level.

“Already the subject is proving so popular with students that in addition to enjoying their lessons, many return at lunchtimes to explore the subject further and to work on all sorts of fascinating projects.

The prince and Queen Elizabeth have attended Baroness Margaret Thatcher’s funeral at London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral today (17.04.13), which is the first ceremonial funeral of a former Prime Minister the couple have ever attended.
