Britain’s Prince of Wales is to open a whisky bottling plant in Scotland today (16.04.13). Prince Charles, known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, will visit a 173-year-old distillery to officially open their new facility as part of his three-day trip to the country.
Charles will then have the opportunity to learn how the whisky is matured and packaged at a plant in Speyside, Moray, where he will also meet and greet workers at the factory.
Moving on from his first two stops, the prince will open nearby heat and power biomass plant the Hellius Corde and unveil a commemorative plaque at the factory, which recycles any leftover waste from the whisky-making procedure.
The 64-year-old royal carried out a similar appointment when he opened a biogas plant on his Duchy of Cornwall estate in Dorset, south west England, last year, helping provide gas for around 56,000 homes in the county.
It was only last month Charles joined his son Prince William and his pregnant wife Duchess Catherine in Scotland to open the new Tamar Manoukian Outdoor Centre at Ayrshire’s Dumfries House, where they were greeted by Youth United – a group of children from the uniformed youth services.
