OHMYGOSSIP — Britain’s The Princess Royal is making a visit to affordable rural homes Sunley Gardens in Kent, south east England, today (16.04.13), where she will plant a fruit tree to commemorate her visit.

Britain’s The Princess Royal is visiting affordable rural homes in Kent today (16.04.13). Princess Anne – the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth – will take a tour of eight residences at Sundley Gardens in Ashford, south east England, and meet local residents before planting a fruit tree to commemorate her visit to the neighbourhood.

The homes were built in 2011 from a partnership between English Rural Housing Association, Godmersham Parish Council and Ashford Borough Council and are funded by the National Affordable Housing Programme.

Ashford Borough Council’s Acting Leader, Councillor Gerry Clarkson, said: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to the borough.

“We are pleased that The Princess Royal has taken the time from her busy diary to come and see the product of the excellent joint working relationship between the council and the English Rural Housing Association.

“This Royal visit greatly helps us to raise the profile of this vital aspect of our housing work in rural communities and we hope Her Royal Highness enjoys her time here with us.”

Anne will then join guests involved with the homes for afternoon tea at Chilham Village Hall and will watch a short film to highlight the benefits that affordable rural homes can have for local households and communities.
