Fiona Phillips feels ‘sorry’ for trolls who mocked her after coronavirus diagnosis

OHMYGOSSIP — Fiona Phillips “feels quite sorry” for trolls who attacked her online after she tested positive for coronavirus.
The 59-year-old TV presenter revealed she had contracted the respiratory disease in March after suffering mild symptoms, but she was then set upon by heartless social media users even when people thought she was at “death’s door”.
Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’, she said: “Well they’re wasting their time because as soon as they started I just switched it all off. I’m not a big social media user anyway, so it didn’t affect me.
“I don’t know these people, I feel quite sorry for them. If they haven’t got anything better to do than insult someone who’s ill then that is their problem.”
The former ‘GMTV’ host revealed her health condition on Twitter, but told her followers not to “panic”.
She wrote: “I am in bed with #coronvirusuk It’s not a very pleasant bedfellow, but nothing more than sore throat, dry cough, headache & tiredness. As long as it stays that way….DON’T panic! (sic)”
Following her post, Fiona was flooded with messages of support, including a message from her former ‘GMTV’ co-host Eammon Holmes.
He told her: “Get well soon Miss Fyona. Keep us posted x (sic)”
However, she soon had to delete her social media platforms due to the extent of abuse she received online in order to make a speedy recovery.
She previously said: “I came off Twitter altogether because even when they think you’re on death’s door, there are still people making nasty comments about you”.
In April, Fiona was relieved to be feeling better and hoped she had overcome the deadly bug.
She said: “It has finally bid its farewells and left my body. I think. I REALLY hope.
“It does feel as though it’s moved on. It’s definitely done its best with me, anyway, and I’m not keen to invite it back in again.
“It wasn’t, it has to be said, very pleasant company. Its presence was exhausting and came accompanied by nasty side-effects. (sic)”
