The Capture returning for series 2

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘The Capture’ is to return for a second series.
The popular BBC One secret service surveillance show has been commissioned for another run, and while Callum Turner isn’t expected to be back as Lance Corporal Shaun Emery for series two, Holliday Grainger will reprise her role as DI Rachel Carey when the drama is back on air.
According to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column, producers want to follow the lead of ‘Line of Duty’ by having each season shift its main focus.
And it seems Beeb bosses were delighted with the ratings after iPlayer helped more than double the show’s BBC One viewing figures.
Drama chief Piers Wenger said: “The BBC is so proud of ‘The Capture’ which gripped and enticed audiences, and grew its audience each week from episode three — which is no mean feat.”
The first series of the thriller ended with Shaun admitting to the manslaughter of solicitor Hannah Roberts (Laura Haddock) despite being innocent, as he was protecting his daughter and ensuring the future of the Correction programme.
Rachel agreed to join Correction – perhaps with an ulterior motive – while US intelligence operative Frank Napier (Ron Perlman) was stunned when boss Jessica Mallory (Famke Janssen) wanted to leak details of the programme to protect an unnamed Washington figure.
Executive producer Rosie Alison previously said: “There’s definitely scope for another series, because by the end the possibilities are opened up even more.
“We pose a big moral question that I think our audiences will have different perspectives on and there’s room for this idea to go a lot further.
“It’s like throwing a small pebble into a pond and watching it ripple outwards!”
The first season of ‘The Capture’ is still available to stream on iPlayer.
