Katherine Dow Blyton related to beloved children’a author Enid Blyton

OHMYGOSSIP — Katherine Dow Blyton is related to legendary writer Enid Blyton.
The ‘Emmerdale’ actress – who plays Harriet Finch on the soap – has revealed she actually shares a connection with the beloved children’s author.
During an appearance on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Friday (22.05.20), host Eamonn Holmes asked about Katherine’s surname and whether she’s related to the ‘Famous Five’ scribe.
She replied: “Apparently, yes, very distantly. Enid Blyton was a couin of my grandpa’s.”
Enid – who passed away aged 71 in 1968 – wrote a number of hugely popular series including ‘The Faraway Tree,’ ‘The Wishing Chair’ and ‘The Secret Seven’.
She also created the character Noddy, who appeared in 24 original books by Blyton and was later adapted for television.
Meanwhile, Katherine – who first joined ‘Emmerdale’ back in 2013 – opened up about how viewers will have to deal with “two month cliffhanger” due to the coronavirus pandemic.
She pointed out her storyline with DI Mark Malone (Mark Womack) is set to be put to the side for a while as she won’t be part of the upcoming “isolation episodes” set to be filmed during lockdown.
She said: “I’m not involved in the isolation episodes. [But] hopefully we’ll get back and we continue this storyline.
“A two month cliffhanger is too much for even me!”
Katherine, 55, also addressed how writers will look to deal with the health crisis on-screen as time goes on.
She added: “Soaps are there to reflect things that are going on in society. I think these isolation episodes are going to do hat.
“I do wonder if people want a bit of escapism after that.”
