Will Mellor couldn’t hug mum after father’s death

OHMYGOSSIP — Will Mellor was heartbroken that he couldn’t hug his mum after his father’s death last month.
The 44-year-old actor revealed that he was unable to embrace his mother at the funeral because of social distancing rules amid the Covid-19 pandemic, even though he was sitting close to her.
Speaking on Monday’s (18.05.20) episode of ‘Loose Women’, Will said: “I couldn’t hug me mum. Rather than sit separately they sat me next to my mum and sister who I’ve been isolating from.
“I didn’t want to get into it, but it was the worst time for this to happen.”
He added: “My mum was sat in the garden self isolating at 4am. It’s tough, but she’s a strong woman, she’s got my sisters. I went there when I could, you’re careful not to break any rules.”
The ‘No Offence’ star explained how the quick progression of his dad’s illness – which he confirmed was not coronavirus – brought some comfort.
Will said: “One of the last things he said when he was being taken to an ambulance was he just wants to go to sleep and not wake up.
“He knew what was coming. It happened to my uncle and he didn’t want to waste away like my uncle. He knew what was coming and got his wish. I get a peace from that.
“When he was in the ambulance he said to my sisters, ‘I’ve had a great life’. He was saying goodbye, he knew and he just slipped away.”
The star posted an emotional video on Twitter revealing his father’s death last month, saying he had been through the “worst week” of his life.
Will explained: “It’s just the hardest time.
“It’s horrendous. What do you do when you lose your hero?
“I also know there are a lot of people who are going through this out there. I just want you to know I feel your pain.
“We’ve just got to try and stick together and get through it. Try and remember the good times.
“If you think about my dad, remember the good times. That’s what I’m going to do, and we’ll get through this. That’s it.”
