Tom Cruise planned his own surprise birthday, wanted to invite Katie Holmes!

OHMYGOSSIP — Tom Cruise is one sad old man! The actor — who turns 50 today  — had apparently been planning his own “surprise” birthday bash to be held Tuesday.

The actor is being divorced by wife Katie Holmes, but according to reports, he begged her to join him in Iceland — where he’s been filming new movie Oblivion — to celebrate his big day.

“He begged her to come to Iceland for one last try at reconciliation,” a source told Us Weekly.

“Katie refused and they had a huge fight.

“Tom was confident he could talk Katie out of the divorce and keep her with him.”
