Mary Berry to host celebrity version of Best Home Cook

OHMYGOSSIP — Mary Berry is set to film a celebrity edition of ‘Best Home Cook’.
The 84-year-old TV chef will welcome a host of famous faces into her kitchen to judge their cooking skills, and she will eliminate them one by one to crown her winner.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “They have shot two series of ‘Best Home Cook’, so thought they’d take the opportunity to explore a celebrity version, like many others have.
“It’s a tried and tested format, and always goes down well with viewers. The producers have plenty of time to start having a think about potential cooks to tap up for the episode, and hopefully a full series.”
The BBC One cooking competition hit screens shortly after the former ‘The Great British Bake Off’ star stepped back from her role on the show – along with co-hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc – when the programme moved to Channel 4 in 2017.
‘Best Home Cook’ is following in the footsteps of ‘Bake Off’, which has recently invited several celebrities, including documentary-maker Louis Theroux and ‘Jaws’ actor Richard Dreyfuss, for a cook-off in its famous tent.
Former ‘Bake Off’ hosts Mel and Sue recently revealed they almost quit the show on the first day of filming after producers left the contestants in tears.
Sue explained: “We resigned, basically. Because it was not a kind show.
“They were pointing cameras in the bakers’ faces and making them cry and saying, ‘Tell us about your dead gran.’
“So we had very stiff words about how we wanted to proceed. I think we can say that, now we’re out of it, can’t we?”
Instead, the pair were looking to present a television show that represented them after working in the industry for so long.
She added: “We’re quite cheesy and homespun and we just want to have a laugh. Who wants to see people crying? I don’t.
“Especially if you work in television and you know the mechanisms that have been used to make them cry.”
