ITV: We were constantly in touch with Caroline Flack

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV were “constantly in touch” with Caroline Flack after she was charged with assault.
Richard Madeley read out a statement from ITV on today’s (17.02.20) ‘Good Morning Britain’, in which the channel say they were “regularly offering her assistance and help and support”.
The former ‘Love Island’ host – who was tragically found dead at her home in east London on Saturday (15.02.20) – presented the ITV2 programme from 2015 to 2019, but had stepped down from hosting the first-ever winter series at the start of this year after she was arrested and charged with assault by beating following an alleged fight at her home in December with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
Speaking on ‘GMB’, Richard said: “We should point out here ITV have been in touch with this programme and asked us to make it clear that contrary to some reports, they were actually constantly in touch with Caroline after this incident, and were regularly offering her assistance and help and support.
“It’s important to put that on the record.”
‘Love Island’ did not air on Saturday and Sunday (16.02.20) following Caroline’s death, but the programme will return tonight with a tribute to the late star.
Show bosses said in a statement: “Many people at ITV knew Caroline well and held her in great affection. All of us are absolutely devastated at this tragic news.
“After careful consultation between Caroline’s representatives and the ‘Love Island’ production team and given how close we still are to the news of Caroline’s tragic death we have decided not to broadcast tonight’s ‘Love Island’ out of respect for Caroline’s family.
“‘Love Island’ will return tomorrow night which will include a tribute to Caroline who will be forever in our hearts.”
‘Love Island’ bosses previously took to social media to express their sadness at her passing.
A statement read: “Everybody at ‘Love Island’ and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news.
“Caroline was a much loved member of the ‘Love Island’ team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends.”
