Laura Whitmore praises ‘supportive’ Caroline Flack

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore says Caroline Flack has been “incredibly gracious” about replacing her on ‘Love Island’.
The 40-year-old presenter stepped down as host of the winter edition of the show after she was arrested last month following a domestic dispute with boyfriend Lewis Burton but Laura has revealed that Caroline has been really “supportive”.
She said: “I know she’s got a strong network of people around her who are supporting her throughout all of this. She has been incredibly gracious and supportive of me taking on the role for the winter series. She’s a brilliant host and I just hope that I can give the role the justice it deserves while she is taking some time off.”
Laura’s boyfriend Iain Stirling is the voice over artist for ‘Love Island’, and the presenter has revealed she discussed her new appointment with her partner before agreeing to do the show.
She added: “When I initially got the call, I had a conversation with Iain. It’s his show. I said, ‘How would you feel about it?’ We both agreed straight away.”
And Laura isn’t thinking much about her future on the show, past the new winter series.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “I haven’t thought about it in a wider context, other than let’s enjoy the show. It’s cold and dark and miserable outside and it’s a perfect time in the schedule to have a show like this.”
After she was charged with assault in December, Caroline confirmed she was stepping down so the situation didn’t “detract attention from the upcoming series”.
She explained: “‘Love Island’ has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six. I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town.”
Laura will host the new series of ‘Love Island’, which airs on ITV2 on January 12, 2020.
