Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling to co-host Aftersun

OHMYGOSSIP — Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling are set to co-present ‘Aftersun’.
Caroline Flack, 40 – who has fronted ITV2 dating show ‘Love Island’ since its relaunch in 2015 – stepped down after her arrest for assault following an incident with her boyfriend Lewis Burton last week and Laura, 34, has reportedly held meetings with ITV about taking over.
Laura’s boyfriend Iain Stirling, 31, is the show’s voiceover artist and bosses also want him and Laura to co-host spin-off ‘Aftersun’ together.
A source told MailOnine: “ITV bosses are keen to keep it in the family.”
Meanwhile, an insider told The Sun Online: “It’s an amazing job, every TV presenter in Britain wants it, so of course Laura was open to speaking to bosses about it.
“She’s already had a chat about it – as soon as Caroline quit, they needed to sign someone up ASAP. Laura already knows the production crew from when she goes out to visit Iain on location, and bosses from her previous jobs on ITV.”
Caroline announced in a statement that she was stepping down “in order to not detract attention” from the new series, which begins in January.
She said: “‘Love Island’ has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly.
“In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six.
“I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town.”
Caroline’s announcement followed reports ITV were working on contingency plans in case she wouldn’t be returning to the show.
She has been released on bail and is due to appear at Highbury Corner magistrates’ court on December 23.
A source said: “This is an absolute nightmare so close to the start of the series. Nobody knows exactly what has gone on, or how the court process will pan out.
“But it’s obviously too much of a risk not to have a back-up plan in place so those conversations have started straight away.”
