Carey Mulligan doesn’t want to lose to a rival

British actress Carey Mulligan has admitted being driven by jealousy in her Hollywood career. The Oscar-nominated star says it is the thought of losing out to one of her acting rivals that not only keeps her going for the best roles but stops her quitting acting for good.

“My agent in London told me, ‘If you’re on a lucky streak and you’re doing well, you should only take a part if you can’t bear the idea of anyone else doing it.’ That’s been the case since then, with Drive and Gatsby,” she said.

“I would have been devastated, if I hadn’t gotten those jobs. With the Coen brothers movie, you’d have to kill me before I didn’t do that job. I’m outrageously lucky. It’s absurd.

“I still haven’t even got my head wrapped around it. So, if the next job is with Pedro Almodovar, then f***, I’ll keep working. But, I’m not going to work for the sake of working. I’ll work, if I’m extraordinarily lucky enough to continue having the same opportunities.”

Carey recently insisted she’d rather make make cakes than crap movies!

“I’m not going to work for the sake of working,” she said.

“I’ll work, if I’m extraordinarily lucky enough to continue having the same opportunities. If there’s nothing around, then I’ll go home and make carrot cake.”
