ITV is rebooting The Darling Buds Of May

OHMYGOSSIP — ITV is rebooting ‘The Darling Buds of May’.
The popular 90s family drama starred Sir David Jason as Pop Larkin, the leader of the Larkin family – who lives on a farm in the Kent countryside in south east England – and was responsible for launching the career of Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, who portrayed Pop’s daughter Mariette.
According to a source, the “revamped” series, which comes 30 years after the original – which ran for three series between 1991 and 1993 – is to replace popular show ‘The Durrells’, which aired at 8pm on Sundays.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “A revamped version of ‘The Darling Buds Of May’ is just the kind of show ITV needs to keep its reputation for making family-friendly dramas.
“It brought people together around the TV almost three decades ago, and they’re hoping it will provide the same shared experience once again.”
‘Only Fools and Horses’ legend David, 79, introduced his catchphrase “Perfick” on the show, which was set in 50s, and followed him and his wife Ma (Pam Ferris) and their children in all their antics.
It’s believed the new series will be penned by ‘The Durrells’ writer Simon Nye.
It’s not currently known if David or Catherine, 50 – who lives in Hollywood now with her husband Michael Douglas – will be reprising their respective roles.
