OHMYGOSSIP — ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ bosses are “closely monitoring” the area to see if they need to evacuate the camp. Huge bushfires in the area mean producers are making sure the jungle site is safe for the crew ahead of the stars’ arrivals this week, with more than 100 blazes still burning by Sunday (10.11.19) across New South Wales and Queensland. An ITV spokesman told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “We are in constant contact with the NSW fire brigade and are closely monitoring the situation. “We currently have no cause for concern. “The health and safety of all our production crew and celebrities are of the utmost importance.” Deputy mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry described the situation as “bad”. She said: “Our main concern for the area [of Marwillumbah] is bush fires. “It has been very hot and dry here in the past months and although this is a rain forest area, bush fires are now an issue we need to seriously think about. It’s bad.” A team of firefighters are trying to control the devastating blazes. Meanwhile, there are dozens of crew at the reality show site with members of the public being used for run throughs of the show to test cameras. Presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly are also visiting the set regularly, with the celebrity contestants due to arrive this week ahead of Sunday’s (17.11.19) launch episode. There have been fires nearby to camp in recent days, including at Lamington National Park (10km away) and a 2,200 hectares fire “out of control” at Mount Nardi National Park (20km).
