Emma Watson, Rupert Grint kiss in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows

Captivating, epic, cathartic and crushing, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” was this summer’s biggest and most heart-wringing film. The ultimate battle with Voldemort and the Death Eaters played out in massive, sweeping battles of morality and sheer force.

But it was also the end of smaller, personal sagas, the graduation of The Boy Who Lived and his loyal friends into adulthood. First introduced as naive (albeit brave) children as they entered Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermoine grew up before our eyes, passing tests not only physical, but emotional, as well. That included falling in love, and after years of fighting and flirtation, Ron and Hermoine finally gave in to the obvious, deep-seated love that they had for one another.

In one of the film’s more buzzed about scenes, stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint had their first kiss together, which they spoke about at length during the press tour to promote the movie.

For his part, Grint said he dreaded it ahead of time, though his fears turned out to be unfounded.

“It was actually fine. It seemed like the most unnatural thing to do, to kiss this person I’d known since she was nine,” he told Attitude Magazine. “It took a while to get into it and put our friendship aside. It’s quite full-on, a proper snog. We’re soaking wet as well – they dumped gallons of water on us and then we just went for it. We laughed a lot and it took us a while to concentrate. We did it about four times.”

In a short featurette to be included on the DVD for the film, director David Yates takes viewers inside that scene, to the green screen filming of their very first smooch.
