Stefanie Powers didn’t find her I’m A Celeb campmates ‘terribly interesting’

OHMYGOSSIP — Stefanie Powers was “thrilled” to be the first star voted off ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ because she didn’t find many of her fellow campmates “terribly interesting”.
The ‘Hart to Hart’ star competed on the 2011 series of ITV’s survival reality game show – which saw McFly star Dougie Poynter crowned king of the jungle – alongside the likes of former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ Mark Wright, pop star Sinitta and the late Freddie Starr.
Asked if she was surprised to be eliminated first, she replied: “I was thrilled.”
The US star went on to mock the show for being a “fictionalised nature of a ‘survival circumstance'”.
She told Britain’s Metro newspaper: “I was the only person in that group of people who had ever spent a night — many nights — under the stars.
“So the fictionalised nature of a ‘survival circumstance’, with people who are not experienced in how you pull together, was not good.
“Everybody had a different agenda and I didn’t find too many of them terribly interesting.”
The well-travelled Hollywood veteran also insisted that she is not “squeamish” around creepy crawlies and the only aspect of the show that put her off was eating living things as she is vegetarian and an animal activist.
She added: “For my entire life I’ve been travelling to unusual, exotic and faraway places where you meet untold amounts of bugs.
“I’ve always been in pursuit of the altruistic rescue of some obscure creature so I was never going to be squeamish about rats or bugs.
“I didn’t want to eat them because I’m vegetarian but it didn’t bother me that they crawled all over me.”
The main reason the 76-year-old actress signed up for the show in the first place was to raise awareness of the William Holden Wildlife Foundation.
She said: “I was raising money for our William Holden Wildlife Foundation. Which, I thank you very much, was considerable and very helpful to our work in Kenya.”
