Lucy Fallon reveals Coronation Street departure date

OHMYGOSSIP — Lucy Fallon’s final scenes on ‘Coronation Street’ will air next March.
The 23-year-old actress is leaving the ITV soap in 2020 when her contract expires and she has now revealed that she will shoot her exit in January ahead of her on-screen departure.
In an interview on morning TV show ‘Lorraine’ on Wednesday (11.09.19), she said: “The end of January, I will leave ‘Corrie’. But then I’ll be on screen until maybe March.”
Lucy has been playing Bethany Platt since 2015 and the role is her first job on television and although she knows it’s “going to be horrible” to say her goodbyes to the cast and crew she feels it is the right time for her to try something new.
She said: “It’s going to be horrible. When I leave, I’ll have been there for five years and it just kind of feels like the right time. I’m going to miss everybody so much. I can’t even think about it because I’ll just be upset. I’m excited, I’m nervous – we’ll see what happens.
“I’ve literally had the best time … I’m going to be devastated, but hopefully they’ll keep me in the group chats!”
Lucy is staying tight-lipped on whether or not she has any acting jobs lined-up for when she leaves ‘Corrie’ but she insists she isn’t interested in doing any reality TV or talent shows like ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
When asked by host Lorraine Kelly if she’d be up for testing her dancing skills on the BBC ballroom series, she said: “I think I’d like to focus on doing more acting, drama, and things. And maybe in the future I could do something like that.”
During her time on ‘Corrie’ Lucy has been involved in a number of hard-hitting storylines including the gripping grooming plot which saw her teenage alter ego Bethany sexually exploited by Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper).
Although she is waving goodbye to Weatherfield for pastures new, Lucy previously admitted she hopes the writers don’t kill Bethany off and instead choose to keep a return to the cobbles open by sending her back to Italy, the country where spent half of her life with mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) before returning to Manchester.
She said: “If it was up to me she would leave in a really nice way, just going to Italy or something. Smiling and happy, no bad things happening. But we’ll see…”
