Emmerdale wins big at TV Choice Awards 2019

OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Emmerdale’ won the best soap prize at the TV Choice Awards 2019.
The ITV show – which was represented by Ryan Hawley, who plays Robert Sugden, on the glitzy red carpet – was once again crowned the winner in the prestigious category – for the third time in four years – at the ceremony at the London Hilton on London’s Park Lane on Monday night (09.09.19), as the team took home one of the four gongs available.
In a post on the programme’s official Twitter profile, the team wrote: “Wow, what a night! Thrilled that #TeamEmmerdale are taking home ‘the biggie’ at tonight’s #TVChoiceAwards
“HUGE ‘thank you’ to everyone who has voted for us – it’s an honour! (sic)”
BBC rivals ‘EastEnders’ landed a double with Kara-Leah Fernandes being named best newcomer while her cast mate Danny Dyer claimed the best actor trophy.
Addressing the audience during his speech, the Mick Carter star said: “I’m very grateful for my life.
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, well-documented. I’m a human being made up of many flaws, all glued together with good intentions.”
Meanwhile, ‘Coronation Street’ star Alison King ensured the Manchester based soap didn’t go home empty handed as she nabbed the best actress award.
Elsewhere at the ceremony, ‘Line of Duty’ was a big winner on the night, with the hit cop show nabbing Best Drama Series following the explosive fifth season.
Adrian Dunbar was also named Best Actor for his role as Superintendent Ted Hastings on the show, and beat off stiff competition from his co-star Martin Compston (Steve Arnott), Richard Madden (PS David Budd in ‘Bodyguard’) and Aidan Turner (Captain Ross Poldark in ‘Poldark’).
Elsewhere, ITV’s ‘This Morning’ was named Best Daytime Show for the fourth year in a row.
Phillip Schofield said: “We’re incredibly proud of our team, incredibly proud of our show. We’re so proud to be part of our family.”
